The transplanted hairs come from your scalp, primarily the back where the hair is thickest and most resembles that of the beard. These hairs will grow like beard hairs. Even if your hair and beard are slightly different in colors, it won’t look unnatural, and in hundreds of beard procedures performed, none of the patients had coloration issues.
Extracting and replanting nearly 2,000 hairs one at a time is a lengthy procedure. A beard transplant can be completed in one eight-hour day. For this, patients were given an oral sedation, as well as local anesthesia around the head.
Hairs are then removed one at a time with the FUE technique, short for follicular unit transfer. Then, the doctor makes tiny incisions in the beard area that determine the direction, density, and angulation the hair will grow. The doctor’s mastery in this part will determine how natural your beard looks once it’s grown out.
